I spoke with a friend of mine today. He and his wife are expecting their new baby to arrive any day now. It got me thinking. Since I do not have any children of my own, I've assimilated my characters to be my offspring. Honestly, I am okay with that. I have a deeper relationship and greater understanding of my "kids" than most people could ever dream of having with their own progeny.
However, there is a part of me that clearly should not be rearing young ones. This is where the secret comes in. Be forewarned, I am going to give you another little tidbit about the first book in my series. So far, there has only been one infant in the "Journal of the Undead" series. [[Here it comes, spoiler alert!!!]] When our heroes find this little baby, they assumed it was nursing because they could hear suckling sounds. Later they learn the child had already transformed into a flesh-eating monster. Apparently, zombie infants have their own twist on "breast feeding" and it was tunneling through its mother's chest cavity. Have fun revisiting that mental image tonight in your nightmares. Sleep well, my friends!
***If you haven't already seen it, the excerpt from my first book, "Journal of the Undead: Littleville Uprising" was posted in the 6/13/13 entry. Check it out!***
